About the livestock show classes

Gymkhana

Four events: barrels, poles, jig and phoenix. Five classes: lead line, peewee (5 to 10), youth (11 to 15), teen (15 to 20) and open (20 and over).

Chore Horse

Open to all breeds, with one driver and one teammate. A hitch wagon is provided. Horses are guided through a course of obstacles like those they would meet in their everyday work.

Driving Horse

Open to all breeds and to any style of hitch, cart or wagon.

Log Skid

Open to all breeds; the log and logging chain are provided. Horses skid a light log through obstacles like those logging horses meet in the bush.

Breed Parade

Open to all breeds and ages. Each horse gets five minutes in the arena while the announcer reads a short description of the breed. Entrants also set up a stall display about their breed.

Livestock Costume Contest

Open to horses, cows, sheep, goats, pigs and chickens. Points for the animal’s health, presentation in the arena and a costume that matches its handler’s.

The winners of each class appear in the final Parade of Champions. Want to enter an animal? See Enter the fair.
