Our story

Three generations, one small boutique

Nora Rose is named for a grandmother, built by a mother, and carried on by a daughter. It has dressed Creston Valley brides since 2009.

How it began

In 2009 Joanne Ludwar opened a bridal shop in Creston, British Columbia, with a spark of encouragement and support from her mother, Leonora. For sixteen years Joanne poured herself into it, learning which gown a bride would choose before she knew it herself.

In June 2025 Joanne was diagnosed with cancer. A dear friend, Teresa Jackson, stepped forward to buy the business so that Joanne's work would carry on. Teresa moved the boutique to a bright new space in the Creston Valley Mall and entrusted its day-to-day care to Joanne's daughter, Dawn Merkl.

Joanne has since passed. The boutique that bears her mother's name is her legacy, and we keep it the way she ran it: with warmth first.

What you can expect

The way we do things

You, undivided

Gown appointments are one-on-one. Nobody is waiting for the mirror, and nobody is rushing you out of it.

Every body, every budget

A wide range of sizes on the floor and gowns across a range of prices. Say your number and we'll respect it.

The whole party

Bridesmaids, mothers, little ones and suits, all from the same rail you chose your gown from, so the pieces belong together.

A reason to come to Creston

Brides drive in from across the Kootenays. Make a day of it: the valley is at its best on the way to a fitting.

More than a bridal shop

Joanne's wish was simple: that people feel deserving of every good thing, whatever their circumstances. So the boutique has always been a place for gifts too, for showers, birthdays, retirements and thank-yous. Come in, say hello, and have a look around. You don't need a wedding to be welcome here.
